  • What are Stems and/ or Track-outs
Stems (also known as track-outs) are the individual audio files that make up a beat, meaning each sound within the beat will be sent as a separate high quality WAV audio file. Leases that include stems are ideal if you plan on recording your song in a professional studio and want to have full control over mixing each instrument around your vocals.
  • What is the difference between SoundExchange and Songtrust
SoundExchange Collects digital performance royalties for sound recordings on behalf of the recording owners and performers. SoundExchange distributes royalties based on the law, which pays 45% to the featured artists, 5% to a fund for non-featured artists, and 50% to the sound recording's rights owner. Songtrust Collects royalties for compositions on behalf of the songwriters and publishers. Songtrust monitors global royalties and collects them when a song is streamed, played in a bar, or covered on YouTube. Songtrust charges a one-time fee of $100 per writer and a 15% commission on royalties collected. Songwriters must be affiliated with a performing rights organization (PRO) to use Songtrust
